About
Exishmum Foundation supports people, organizations and ideas working toward meaningful social progress. This page explains what we are trying to do and how we go about it.
To support people, organizations and ideas working toward meaningful social progress, and to widen who gets a genuine opportunity to contribute.
A world in which opportunity is not determined by where someone happens to begin — the idea behind our statement, Opportunity Without Boundaries.
We fund through defined opportunities with published criteria. We favour work that is close to the problem, evidence-informed, and honest about uncertainty.
Meaningful change rarely fits a single funding cycle. We plan and evaluate on timescales that match the work rather than the calendar.
We structure our work by region and country so that context is treated as central rather than incidental. Locations are published only when verified.
We evaluate openly, including where results fall short, and we share what we learn through our resources and reports.
We publish our governance, our processes and our policies, and we make it straightforward to contact us or to challenge a decision.
How we work
We begin with the people closest to a problem and the context they work in.
We look for ideas, organizations and evidence already showing promise.
We provide funding and support shaped around what the work actually needs.
We work with partners, practitioners and institutions rather than around them.
We evaluate openly, including where things do not go as expected.
We help durable approaches reach further, when the evidence supports it.
